My cousin Gena is about to have her second daughter – she’s due around the first of April, and she and her husband Luke have already decided on the name Elodie. While I don’t see her often these days, Gena and I used to be very close as kids, and I adore her first daughter Aubrey, who’s just about the cutest, most precocious little person I’ve ever met. Gena is a wonderful mom, and I have no doubt that Elodie will be a fabulous kid. I made Aubrey a baby blanket when she was born, and I was going to do the same this time around, but the weeks and months flew by and I ran out of time. Plus, my mom beat me to the punch and made a great blankie already. So, I decided on baby hats – they’re fast, cute, and easy. I made four, one for each season (though I’m sure they’ll be worn when they fit, rather than corresponding to the seasons).
They don’t get a full writeup, but they’re all made in small amounts of Lion Brand Vanna’s Choice (hey, it’s cheap, tough, washable, soft, and comes in a gazillion colors – I can’t afford to be a snob these days) on size 6 needles – links to the patterns and ravelry pages are included.
